A treatment quotation is useful only when you can explain what the total buys. Before comparing offers from Turkey, check that the document describes your proposed care and identifies the assumptions behind the calculation. A low headline amount may cover a different stage of care from the one you have in mind.
Check the issuing hospital, patient name, date, reference number and period of validity. Find the description of the planned service: a consultation, diagnostic assessment, procedure or a longer course of care. Ask whether a clinician has reviewed your records and which parts remain subject to an examination.
Keep the quotation beside the clinical proposal. If the medical document describes several stages but the quotation names only one, request a written explanation. Avoid assuming that the rest is included merely because it was mentioned during a call.
For each line, ask what is being counted. A consultation could mean one appointment or several specialist visits. A room charge may refer to a stated number of nights and a particular room category. Ask how medicines, laboratory work, imaging, anaesthesia and procedure-related materials are described when relevant to the proposed care.
Create a comparison sheet with four columns: item, quantity, included amount and question. Mark an unclear item “not confirmed” instead of entering zero. This keeps missing information visible when you discuss the budget with a companion.
Short labels need an explanation of scope. Use the questions below when relevant to the proposal; they do not suggest that every patient needs these services or that every hospital uses the same package structure.

Ask the hospital to identify which services are outside the quoted amount and how additional care would be explained and billed. Consider possible extra nights, another specialist opinion or a change in the proposed approach. These are questions about the quotation, not predictions that you will need those services.
Separate hospital services from accommodation, transport, translation and companion expenses. The pricing page can help you prepare inclusion questions, while the personalized quotation should establish the actual financial scope.
Suppose the proposed trip involves a consultation, an assessment and a discussion of the results with the doctor. The quotation lists a consultation and investigations but says nothing about the results discussion. Until the hospital clarifies this, avoid adding a guessed price or assuming that the meeting is free. Record a direct question: “Does the quoted amount include a clinician explaining the results, in what format and how many times?”
Compare the answer with the schedule. If the discussion takes place after a result becomes available, ask whether you need to remain in Turkey or whether a remote meeting is possible. This identifies travel consequences without deciding which investigations you need. The guide to budgeting for medical travel covers expenses outside the hospital bill.
Record the currency, due dates, accepted payment method and named recipient. Ask whether the document is an estimate, a payment request or an invoice, and what each means in the hospital’s process. If advance payment is requested, obtain the written terms for cancellation, postponement and an unused balance.
Ask who confirms a changed total and what documentation you will receive. Keep the original version so that revisions can be compared. A newer total without a clear change in scope deserves a question before it becomes the basis of payment.
A relatively small “amount due now” may be only the first instalment. Locate the agreed total, payments already made and remaining balance. If several currencies appear, ask which currency establishes the amount owed and how the hospital calculates a payment in another currency. Check your own bank’s charges separately.
Before transferring funds, match the recipient with the hospital documents. If bank details change, confirm them through an established official contact. The article on paying a hospital directly provides further questions about invoices and payment evidence. These checks clarify an arrangement; they do not establish a universal refund policy for hospitals.
Send a short list of unresolved items, quoting their line numbers or exact labels. Request one updated quotation or an attached clarification that can be read alongside it. You can ask Medicina Turkey to help organize questions for the hospital.
You are ready to compare the offer when the included care, quantities, exclusions and payment terms can be understood together. Keep any remaining uncertainty visible rather than making an undocumented assumption to reach a final figure.
This guide helps you prepare questions and documents. It does not establish the treatment you need; discuss medical decisions with your clinician and individual arrangements with the receiving hospital.
